One of Nepal’s most popular trekking trails, The Langtang valley trek is a great substitution for trekkers who do not have time to trek the 21 day Annapurna Circuit trek. Situated in the Langtang National Park this trek offers you an opportunity to encounter many animal and bird species, the Red Panda being amongst the most popular one. The trail takes you past high elevation meadows where you can enjoy the sightings of wild sheep and yaks grazing in the afternoon sun.
The valley is shrouded by panoramic views of the Langtang range throughout and features spectacular views of Dorje Lakpa (6,966m) and Shisha Pangma (8,013m) – the tallest peak in Tibet. There are small communities of local Tibetan villages along the trek and an ancient Buddhist monastery at Kyanjing Gompa. The Langtang Valley trek is a self-sufficient tea house trek where one can find basic facilities like a warm bed, a good meal and hot showers and a particular treat – the local cheese. The area is still recovering from the earthquake in 2015.
